Christian blogger’s personal story of darkness and triumph aims to inspire and uplift Canadians living with depression
Montreal, Canada; 28 November, 2019 – For Thanksgiving, Anathalie Jean-Charles officially releases a new bilingual blog dedicated to supporting people suffering from depression or experiencing other physical, emotional and spiritual suffering.
Depression is often referred to as ‘the dark night of the soul’ because it’s a battle many face alone, but the truth is that, once depression is recognized, help can make a difference for 80% of people who are affected.
For one Montreal woman, who battled depression for a year, her spiritual beliefs and the support of her church community ultimately brought her salvation. Anathalie Jean-Charles has now launched a Christian blog detailing her personal journey with depression and how God carried her through her darkest times.
Anathalie’s Diary will share with transparency, her spiritual journey as well as the lessons learned from the depression she battled. She hopes that this candid story, full of raw emotion and uncensored thoughts, can be a hand extended to those who are suffering and torn apart by mental illness.
“I’m grateful to be depression-free for the past year and a half,” says Anathalie, “This blog is a way of giving back to those who are still struggling with mental health issues and other forms of suffering. It’s a form of gratitude towards God to thank Him for taking me through this trial and for healing me.”
A blog to break the taboos surrounding mental health issues within Christian communities
Anathalie’s Diary will feature written content and videos discussing issues such as; depression; breaking taboos surrounding suffering and mental illness in the Christian community; spiritual teachings and messages of hope. Anathalie will also share her insights around natural caregiver struggles; gained through her experiences caring for her father with Alzheimer’s.
“As far as I can remember, I have always loved God,” says Anathalie, “Despite the tortuous paths I have taken, He has remained faithful and never let me down. Right now, 3.4 million Canadians are affected by major depression and few seek out help or have recognized their illness. I hope that this blog can help more Christians talk openly about their mental illness and learn to lean on God in their time of need to overcome their struggle.”
